What Are The Requirements For Nutrisystem Meals

What Are the Requirements for Nutrisystem Meals?

Nutrisystem is a diet-service program based on the glycemic index. According to glycemicindex.com, foods that are rated low are best for weight loss. There is no calorie counting required on the Nutrisystem plan, and your shelf-stable foods are delivered right to your home.

Requirements

Plans for men, women and seniors consist of three meals a day, a dessert, and a snack. Nutrisystem choices are portion-controlled, and you add fresh produce and dairy for a complete meal. Diabetic and vegetarian plans are available on their website (nutrisystem.com).

Grocery Additions for Women

Women need to add one fruit and one dairy or protein for breakfast. For lunch, add one dairy or protein and one salad. Dinner needs one salad, one fat and two vegetables to be complete. Your snack can be either a Nutrisystem choice or a dairy or protein and one fruit.

Grocery Additions for Men

In addition to the women's additions, men need to include one carbohydrate more for breakfast, lunch and dinner. One fat at dinnertime is also advised. If you need to lose more than 100 pounds, add an extra carb to breakfast and one fruit to lunch (applicable to men and women).

Risks

Do not use the Nutrisystem plan if you have an eating disorder, are pregnant or breastfeeding. Note that if you have an allergy to peanuts you should also avoid NutriSystem foods. You must add sufficient grocery items to your meals to consume enough calories to support a healthy body.

Cost

The cost to start the program is approximately $200 to $300, not including supplemental grocery products. Nutrisystem offers an autoship program that waives shipping fees and gives you a 10 percent discount on your order.
