The Best Way To Clean A Vaporizer

A vaporizer is used to add moisture to the air to help alleviate dry skin, noses, throats and lips. Unlike a humidifier, which creates a cool mist, a vaporizer sprays a warm mist in the air. Vaporizers often are used when a patient is sick with cold-like symptoms to reduce discomfort and increase breathing. When using a vaporizer, it is important to follow the cleaning and care instructions to ensure that you are exposed to only clean water and that the vaporizer continues to function properly.

Instructions

1. Unplug the vaporizer prior to cleaning.

2. Empty the water in your vaporizer every day and refill it with new, clean water. This not only ensures your are exposed to only clean water, but prevents dust and dirt from building up in the vaporizer. Replacing the water daily also prevents mold and bacteria from forming, as these two elements thrive in standing water.

3. Fill the tank with distilled water rather than standard tap water. Distilled water eliminates the chance of mineral deposits building up on the vaporizer and being released into the air.

4. Empty the tank and scrub the tank and vaporizer with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide. Use a soft scrub brush to scrub the tank and vaporizer. After cleaning, thoroughly rinse the tank and vaporizer using clean tap water to remove any remaining peroxide.
