Physical Symptoms Of Adhd In Children

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children exhibits specific physical symptoms that are not as noticeable as some people believe. The major physical symptoms are impulsiveness, inattention and hyperactivity. Contrary to popular belief, hyperactivity does not have to mean that the child can't sit still.

Inattention

Children with ADHD often don't pay attention and have trouble staying focused. They can be easily distracted from their work and may appear to not listen when they are being spoken to. Inattention can lead to lack of awareness of rules and assignments, and difficulty keeping track of personal items.

impulsiveness

Children with ADHD interrupt others constantly. They may be unable to control tempers and will be prone to emotional outbursts.

Hyperactivity

Physical symptoms of ADHD in children include squirming and fidgeting. Children may bounce a leg or dance back and forth when required to stand still. The hyperactive child chatters constantly at play and at work.

Positive ADHD Symptoms

ADHD children are inventive, creative and typically strong problem solvers. ADHD children also have a need to go first, which means they are more likely to step up to leadership roles. They can be very flexible and multitask well because they can pay attention to multiple ideas and items.

High Energy

ADHD children have high energy and always seem to be on the go. They play hard and run hard, and need physical activities to keep them focused and disciplined.
